"Long" Weekend in more then one sense of the word!

So we spent the "long" weekend (4th of July) in Garrison, ND. Derek is now able to "moonlight" (or work in rural hospitals covering for the weekend) and get paid a little extra! So we went to Garrison on Thursday night last week and this is where we stayed. The kids had a blast and they thought camping was sooooooo fun! The first night wasn't too bad, we got to Garrison at about 6pm and Derek was starting to be on call at 7pm. He didn't see too much action that night so we all got a good nights sleep. The three oldest kids were sleeping on bunk beds, three high! Dangerous you might say, maybe! Well, we didn't have any mishaps the first night but Tyson managed to fall out of his bed on the second night and you guessed it, he was on top! About 5 ft high!! He crashed hard and has the bruises to prove it, his back is a little beat up but he is alright! Needless to say he slept on the table that turns into a bed for the next two nights.
Anyway, the kids really thought the camp fires were fun and enjoyed making themselves some smores!! Gideon just sat in his chair eating marshmallows and chocolate and stayed quite content. We watched fireworks on the 4th and pretty much just lazied around all weekend. We couldn't really go and do anything that included Derek because he had to be at the hospital at a moments notice but we still enjoyed spending time together as a family. By the end of day 3 I was getting pretty tired of the camping scene and there was an opening at the hotel (where we would have stayed the whole time except there wasn't any openings until Sunday night!) so we packed up and went to the hotel and had nice warm baths and slept soundly until 5:30 am Monday morning when Derek was done being on call and we had to drive home to Minot so that Derek could be at clinic at 9am. Anyway, we are going camping (without the pager) this weekend and so maybe it will be a little more enjoyable!

Just thought I would throw one in of Tyson's new haircut (that he only gets to keep until Saturday night!). He has been asking for a mohawk for weeks and so I finally caved and did it for him, but he has to have it shaved off before church on Sunday!
Also, just a side note, Tyson was saying prayers the other day and this is part of what he said: "Please bless us that we won't die until we have ta." and "Thank you for our families so we don't just have to have money to give to the store people for food". Never a dull moment when Tyson is around!!
